Help and common questions

Here are short answers. If your question is missing, write to us.

What does SteadyPoint do?

SteadyPoint makes mouse and keyboard control on the Mac steadier. It prevents double clicks and double letters. It keeps a click where you aimed. It helps you hit buttons more easily.

Is SteadyPoint a medical product?

No. SteadyPoint is an operating aid for steadier mouse and keyboard use. It is not a medical product.

Which Mac do I need?

A Mac with an Apple chip (M1 or newer) and macOS 14 or newer. SteadyPoint does not run on Macs with an Intel processor.

Why does macOS ask: “SteadyPoint would like to control this computer”?

It sounds strict, but it is the usual question from macOS. SteadyPoint makes your input steadier, so it has to handle mouse and keyboard. macOS only allows that with your consent. Every mouse utility needs this permission. You can withdraw it at any time in System Settings.

Why is SteadyPoint not listed under “Input Monitoring”?

That is correct. SteadyPoint needs one permission only: “Accessibility”. A second permission is not required.

Does SteadyPoint store what I type?

No. SteadyPoint does not store what you type. What you type or do never leaves your Mac.

What do I do if the pointer behaves strangely?

Hold both arrow keys for 5 seconds. Mouse and keyboard then work normally again right away. Or click the red “Stop” button. Or choose “Turn everything off” in the menu bar menu.

How do I remove SteadyPoint?

Open the SteadyPoint menu and choose “Settings”. There you find “Remove SteadyPoint …”. SteadyPoint then turns off automatic start and deletes its settings. Your pointer works normally afterwards.

What does SteadyPoint cost?

The price will be announced. SteadyPoint is not available yet. A 30-day trial is planned. Price and trial length are not final yet.

Are there two editions?

Yes. SteadyPoint Pro has all features, including target assist, and is sold directly. SteadyPoint in the Mac App Store has the same features without target assist, because the Mac App Store does not allow the access to other programs that it needs. A 30-day trial is planned for both. A comparison is on the page “Try and buy”.

Can someone help me set it up?

Yes. The page “For family” has a guide you can print. It helps with setup and with problems, also over the phone.

Does SteadyPoint work alongside other mouse utilities?

The two programs can interfere with each other. SteadyPoint shows a warning when it notices another mouse utility. We recommend using only one.
